You can manage several aspects of your U-M Pantheon websites via the ITS Web Hosting Services Portal. After logging into the portal, click Website Management, then click the name of your site to open the Website Details page. Click Edit Website Details to update the following information.
Shortcode
You must provide a valid Shortcode when creating a site to rebill Pantheon website costs. This Shortcode can be changed at any time via the Website Details page.
MCommunity Groups
Access to site management functionality via the ITS Web Hosting Services Portal and the Pantheon dashboard is based on the Managing MCommunity Group selected during the site-creation process.
You should select (or create) an MCommunity group that includes all individuals you want to be able to manage your website.
- Only members of the group can manage the website using the Pantheon dashboard.
- Only owners of the group can manage the website using the ITS Web Hosting Services Portal.
See additional details about MCommunity Group Roles and Permissions for U-M Pantheon Websites.
Website Updates
You should regularly check and keep your websites on the latest stable/official version of software, particularly the latest version with a security patch. Keeping your websites on the most recent software version also protects other university websites hosted on U-M Pantheon from potential threats. Here are the options you can choose from to update your sites:
- Install the updates yourself or with the help of the IT department in your unit.
- Refer to Pantheon’s documentation for instructions on how to update your websites.
- Hire a web agency.
- If you need assistance with updating your website(s), U-M Procurement has a list of web agencies (listed under Web and Graphics) that do not require Purchase Orders and will directly bill your university shortcode.
- Alternatively, you can use the university's regular procurement processes to use a vendor that is not in the Quote to Order system.
Pantheon also offers Autopilot, a service that helps reduce the amount of work for updates for security patches, WordPress and Drupal core, and plugins, reducing manual intervention and maintaining security standards. Autopilot can be turned on for a site via the ITS Web Hosting Services Portal.
Site Deletion or Suspension
Owners can delete a Sandbox site or a site with a paid plan at any time through the Web Hosting Portal. If a site is deleted before June 30, owners will receive a credit for any unused time.
